Why Fundraise on Facebook?

Facebook is an extremely powerful fundraising tool. In the past 12 months, Facebook’s donation tools have raised $1 BILLION dollars.

Last year, Facebook announced they would cover all processing fees for donations made to nonprofits. This makes Facebook a very attractive tool to use for you and for donors.

Is Your Facebook Page Verified to Receive Donations?

When you set up giving opportunities on Facebook, you’re enabling people to easily share their gift and promote NewsMatch with their community online.

Before you begin fundraising, make sure that your Facebook Page is set up and verified to receive donations.

Follow the instructions from Facebook to register your organization to receive donations. https://www.facebook.com/donate/signup

You’ll need:

  • A PDF copy of a bank statement from the last 3 months (you will need to upload this as part of the application). Submitting a statement that is older than 3 months will cause a delay in your application being approved.
  • The name and date of birth of your organization’s CEO or Executive Director.
  • Your organization’s tax ID number (EIN or VAT number), which verifies your charitable tax exemption status.

Note: It may take up to 2-3 weeks to get approval.
