4 Simple Ways to Fundraise on Social Media Right Now

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Are you ready to turn your social media channels into fundraising machines!?

FACT: It doesn’t matter if you have 100 or 100,000 followers.

I’m going to breakdown 4 steps to get you started on growing your social media accounts AND converting your social media followers into donors.

STEP 1: CONSISTENCY

I have personally gained 100 new followers (12% growth) completely organically in two months. My website traffic is up 170% YoY ALL because I’ve stayed consistent on posting valuable content and directing people to my website.

You don’t need to post every day, you just need to show up consistently on the platforms where your audience is present.

STEP 2: PAID ADVERTISING

Your first thought is, but Dana, I have $0. Do you have $10 you can test on ads? Probably!

Since you’re now posting consistently, you’ll start to see a slow increase in follower growth. To expedite that process, you can create Lookalike Target Audiences of your current followers on Facebook and Instagram.

A Lookalike Audience finds people that match your existing follower base to help expand your reach to new people.

Don’t ask for donations in these ads. Your first touchpoint with a new audience should be something educational, emotional, or entertaining.

Your goal is to have them become a follower of your account – creating the opportunity to build another advocate.

STEP 3: USE FACEBOOK’S DONATION TOOLS

Facebook fundraisers are one of the most powerful tools for nonprofits to use to raise funds. On #GivingTuesday 2019 alone, over 1.1 million people created fundraisers or donated, and over 97,000 charitable organizations benefited from Facebook fundraisers.

I’ve worked with multiple nonprofits that have seen a huge success in activating their community to use Facebook Fundraisers.

Make sure that you are an approved nonprofit with Facebook to receive donations straight from the platform. Click here to learn or check if you’re approved!

Often times, the barrier to entry is filling out LONG donor forms on websites. Facebook makes it seamless and easy to donate. There’s also ZERO transaction fees, a huge plus for nonprofits.

Here’s a few ideas on how to activate Facebook’s fundraising tools:

  • Make sure your Donate button on your Facebook Page is activated and leads people directly to the donate page. The fewer clicks the better!
  • Launch a Facebook Fundraiser tied to a very specific goal. Example: $2500 will help us do X!
  • Run Facebook ads targeting people with upcoming birthdays to create a Facebook Fundraiser on your behalf

STEP 4: GO LIVE

If you have to cancel an upcoming event due to the recent health announcements, be creative and use live streaming to communicate your message and needs.

Add a Donate Button to your live video and encourage people to support remotely. Live videos, when done consistently, draw incredible engagement!

  1. You actually make it seem really easy with your
presentation but I find this topic to be actually one thing that I believe I’d
never understand. It kind of feels too complex and very huge
for me. I’m looking ahead in your next put up, I’ll try to get
    the dangle of it!
