As Michael Hyatt famously says, “To accomplish our goals, we must distill our dreams into daily actions.” Now that Q3 is just around the corner, I’m diving into my quarterly planning process and sharing a recap of how well I actually did on my Q2 goals.

Hear about the planner that has changed my life tremendously, how to break down your goals into actionable steps, and the importance of celebrating your achievements along the way.

Ready to dig into some power-packed goal setting? Let’s do this.

The game changing planner that helped me hone in on my quarterly goals

It can feel completely unrealistic to plan your goals an entire year in advance, especially as life and business can change so quickly.

So today, I want to share with you my process for defining and achieving quarterly goals!

If you haven’t done this before, the first step is to find a planner that you’ll actually use that’ll help you focus. I quickly fell head over heels for Michael Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner. This tool is a literal GAME CHANGER for your productivity and I couldn’t recommend it more.

If you don’t have a planner, no problem! I’ll walk you through some of the process.

Inside some of my biggest quarterly goals and how I organized them

On a sheet of paper or a whiteboard, map out 3-4 goals that have a quantifiable result. Maybe they’re a mix of achievement-based goals and habit goals.

In quarter one of this year, I did okay. With the best of intentions, I wanted to build up a sustainable morning routine with meditation, exercise, and journaling.

For quarter two, I stuck to more achievement-based goals, choosing a personal goal and two business goals.

Getting pregnant with a healthy baby was at the top of my list. In full transparency, my IVF journey has been quite an adventure and we just wrapped up round three, which was not successful.

While I only got halfway to my goal of securing $30K in sponsorships for the Missions to Movements Podcast, I achieved my goal of onboarding 6 organizations into my mastermind program, which is designed to help non-profits create a successful recurring donor program. I received so many applications, I couldn’t even schedule all of the application calls! So if you’re interested in getting on the waitlist for 2023, click here.

After you write out all of your goals, list out three key motivations for each goal, followed by the first few actions you need to take to achieve those goals.

Celebrate when you achieve your quarterly goals

Once you reach your goals, how will you celebrate? It’s so easy to acknowledge your accomplishment for a few minutes and then quickly move on to the next thing.

But we need to slow waaaay down and celebrate it!

I’m a foodie, traveler, and spa lover, so usually my rewards fit into one of these 3 categories.

Since starting this process, I have become so much more clear on the direction of my business and the structure of my week. Plus, when a goal is accomplished, I’ve learned to slow down and tell myself it’s okay to rest before jumping into the next big thing.

I’d love to hear from you. What are some of your goals for the upcoming quarter? Post them on your Instagram Stories and tag me or DM me on Instagram or LinkedIn.

Notable Quote from Dana

“When we write down a reward for the goal that we just had, we are subconsciously getting excited about the completion of the goal before it ever happened.”
